The first part of the whole process involved listening to all of the songs provided to us and everyone in the group deciding which song has the most potential. All together, we selected the song "Something from Nothing" by the Foo Fighters. We thought that the song sounded the best and we could make a very interesting music video for the song. Next, we began completing our research to understand the genre and the marketing techniques utilized by real life bands. We conducted our research on Arctic Monkeys, the Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, and Green Day.
After we completed our research and chart, we began brainstorming and planning for the music video. It was a little challenging for all of us to agree on an idea for the video, but we reached a compromise at the end. We decided to do a mostly storytelling video with some promotional shots of our "band". We all agree on a day that we could meet up over the weekend and started to film. The filming for the video went very smoothly and we got all of the shots that we needed to begin editing the video and making it look nice.
We decided to name our new band "The Ruthless", because we thought that it fit very well into the rock music genre. We also decided to keep the name of the song the same, "Something from Nothing". Currently, we are working on the band's promotion and social media presence. We have created an Instagram account, a Twitter page, and a website for our band. These three media sources allow the band to keep in touch with their fans and let them know of future plans. Our future plans are to make merchandise for the band, set up a mini tour that the band will have, and brainstorm ideas for the band's new album. Lastly, we will just have to put all of our information together and prepare for our presentation.
